What’s going on YouTube my name is Mike welcome to my channel we’ll talk about anything and everything automotive related from off-road fast cars and even this the oddballs this is a 1974 Volkswagen thing got it back in January I’ve known about the car for quite a while it’s been in storage for about 15 years so let’s look it over first things the interior well as you would expect it’s pretty rough as tearing the seat and overall the vinyl is pretty dried out floors well they kind of look a little solid but you look underneath in yeah it needs both pans so that’ll be the first thing to get done that’s sort of a safety issue since well you’re actually sitting on the pan itself so the others let’s see windshield frame looks good until typical lower frame is rotten so I don’t know if that’s something that I’ll be able to fabricate from scratch or if it’s just something I’ll just have to suck up and purchase but who knows I may not even paint this thing I may just replace the pans get it running and fix the brakes and drive it as is got a little bit of body filler in the fender it’s already cracking so it’s a little bit thick little bit of rust not too awfully bad one being in the door but overall it’s really not that bad the previous owner used to be a football player for the Atlanta Falcons his name was Mick luck Hurst super cool guy we uh we talked about this car for many times over the years and when he finally moved to California well we struck a deal that I couldn’t refuse so now the cars mine the top top is gonna be need to be replaced you see this nice little bend it’s not really supposed to be there so I’m not sure if I’ll need to straighten that out or if I can just buy a whole talk with the thing from thing shop engine this is the high point Mick actually purchased a brand new engine and had it installed maybe a couple of years before he actually parked think under the hood looks fairly solid no evidence of any major front-end damage usually you’ll see all down through this area would be wrinkled if it’s ever been in a front-end collision this one has obviously been bumped into something and judging from the body filler in the fender as we discussed earlier it’s uh it hasn’t had a pristine easy life but for what it is missa fairness all the car in a great starting point now I’m sorry for the limited amount of space I have here I can’t really get the whole car and the frame there we go but this is one of those vehicles that’s kind of a kind of on the back burner my goal is to get it running and driving with new floor pans by this fall there’s a local show called bugs at the branch and I’d like to take it there and we’ll see but I’ve got three other project vehicles going on right now so stay tuned
