The iconic VW Golf hatchback enters its 7th generation by celebrating 40 years in America. This all-new 2015 model continues to be offered with 2 or 4 doors and with 2 powertrains, the choice is yours; either a 1.8-liter turbocharged 4 mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic or the new 2.0-liter TDI diesel with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG transmission. This marks the first time the entire Golf lineup has gone turbo.Bigger yet lighter and more fuel-efficient than before, the Golf TSI sees a 20% boost in gas mileage compared to the 2.5-liter model it replaces. Just like old times, it’s the stick shift providing the best EPA numbers, rated at 25mpg city/37mpg highway. Horsepower remains at 170 but torque is increased to 200 pound-feet which hits lower in the power band.
