Today I’m testing the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace. Now I loved the five seater of this and this is the seven seater version so I’m looking forward to finding out how good this one is as a Babydrive. In the second row seats in the Allspace they are ISOFIX in the two outer seats. They are within plastic guides and nice and easy to connect to. There’s top tether on the back of all three second row seats. They’re on the back there, you can access those by bringing the seat backs forward or if you’re tall enough through the boot. They were nice and easy to connect to as well. Now I’ve managed to install these three child seats in the second row. I did try other combinations of seats and they didn’t fit so you really do need to try your child seats in the second row.The seat base isn’t very long so that’s why I found others wouldn’t fit. It’s probably more a really good size two-seat second row to be honest. Accessing the third row is a bit tricky. The seat base does slide on a 60/40 split and the seat backs here come forward, but I found with child seats installed there’s just not enough room to get through there. You would have to remove one of the child seats in order to bring that seat back all the way forward to get through. In the third row seats there really isn’t much space at all. There’s very little knee room and there’s no kick room underneath this second row of seats. And there’s really no headroom as well. I’m only 162cm. And the seat bases are really short so they’re not very practical at all. Storage in the third row is pretty minimal. There’s one strange shaped cup holder on the left-hand side. You can fit a disposable or reusable coffee cup in there but they do rattle around so it’s not the right shape, and there’s a funny little wedge thing over here that you could fit a book or something on.I think it’s a very occasional 7 seater this Allspace, it’s really not for a family of seven. Storage in the front of the Tiguan Allspace is excellent. There’s two retractable cup holders in the central console here. They will hold a reusable and disposable coffee cup and a large refillable water bottle and small bottle fit in there too. There is a small central console here that’s rubber at the bottom. There’s a rubber line well in the front here with all your charging points for your phone as well. The glove box it is quite small. I could get my wallet in there with the manual but not my iPad. But the door
bins are really nice and large. I could get the large refillable bottle in there, 600 ml, my wallet and an iPad all fitted in there really well. And they’re lined as well. In the ceiling are these enormous sunglasses cases. There’s actually two of them. They are so big they will hold the rear passengers ones as well which is fantastic, In the second row of the Allspace, storage is really good as well. There’s a fold down in the central seat here with two cupholders. They will hold a reusable and disposable coffee cup, 600ml and the larger fill the water bottle fits in there too. There are these fantastic trays here that fold up from the front seatbacks. They’re really good. They do have a cup holder in the side as well and there’s map pockets on both seats underneath and they will hold and iPad but not concealed it. The door bins are really nice and big in the back here too. They will hold a larger refillable water bottle and an ipad fits in there too. When you open the boot using the key or the button on the door, then it opens with this really loud beep. However when you stand at the back and open it doesn’t. It’s really nice and quiet to open and close. There’s a retractable roller blind stored under the floor here and there’s a little torch on the right-hand side. Let’s find out how much we can fit in the boot of this Tiguan Allspace. When using all seven seats, the boot will hold five shopping bags only. The mountain buggy nanos compact stroller fitted with three shopping bags. When only using five seats the boot will hold 15 shopping bags or the mountain buggy duet twin stroller and five shopping bags. The Britax flex tandem stroller and eight shopping bags. The mountain buggy urban jungle single stroller and eight shopping bags. Or the mountain buggy Nano compact stroller and eleven shopping bags. The media screen in the Allspace is lovely. It’s a really lovely big clear crisp screen. It’s easy to navigate. It has apple carplay and android auto, and it’s just really nice and easy to control. When I put it into reverse the camera image is fantastic. It’s lovely crisp and clear. I can move around different and sides of the car to get different visuals, and I can easily mute the parking sensors here. The Allspace is a really nice car to drive. It is a bit bumpy, the same way that the Tiguan was, but it’s still really nice comfortable and visibility is good in here too. So to sum up with the Allspace
I loved the five seater Tiguan and I think the Allspace is still a great five seater Tiguan.I think the sixth and seventh seat really are not very practical. They’re not very usable but everything else about it is fantastic apart from that. Read the full reviews at babydrive.com.au .
