All right today this 2007 volkswagen passat we’re going to show you the t1 vehicle wiring harness from tow ready part number one one eight five six to two features about this wiring harness that provides a 4-pole flat trailer connector for the vehicle relatively easy with no cutting or splicing or taping into the factory wires of the vehicle it’s all one piece construction okay when with the right adapters this is also can be upgraded to a five pole six pole or seven pole connector now this is our main wire harness right here just our t-connector for the left-hand side green wire we our t-connector for a right-hand side this is our one-piece wire harness right here this learn module that eventually be connected to it by plugging together here’s our 4-pole end that comes with a built-in cover when it’s not being used a power supply will go to this wire right here the wire ring terminal is a ground wire they’ll go to sheet metal this also comes the length of wire I’ll run it from the yellow buck connector up to the battery or a 12-volt power supply once you get up to it this also comes the fuse holder the ring terminal and bucking occurs as well plus the fuse and so zip ties now it might be a good idea to go out and get some extra zip ties for this as well okay now I’ll tell you how it works it’s actually pretty simple what happens is the signal comes in from either t-connector or both at the same time this is actually copies the signal and uses the battery power to send power for betrayal lights Flynn this way your vehicle is actually totally insulated from a trailer so there’s a short on it the box will take care of that first before your vehicle’s wiring harness and this will also prevent damage to the on-board computer all right now I’ll go ahead and show you how it installs now our connection points are actually behind taillights on the inside of the trunk area so we need to go ahead and remove some panels to get access to it we’re going to remove a floor covering next our threshold needs to be moved out of the way look pull back the trim a little bit and lose a trim panel tool or a very large flat blade screwdriver to help pop this up yes now I’m going to take the floor panel completely out of way just make things easier see overall okay these little desires will go ahead and pull these up there’s one on each side mix the whole assembly a little flexible all right now this little tie-down point there’s one each side we
have to remove it it will be using a t20 Torx bit right now I go ahead and pull back or liners now there will be some fasteners behind it as well I’ll look for those guys this one right here and one about right here okay this location right here there’s actually a plastic rivet what you can do is take a real small screwdriver and catch the edge of it and pull out the center once you get it free to trim panel tool works the best what more rivet for us to pull apart this is our connection point we need use when we install the wire harness now let’s let this sit for aside for now and we’ll go ahead and repeat this all same process over on the passenger side all right let’s go ahead and start working on four wire harness we’ll start on the left-hand side here at the driver’s side and we’ll work the t-connector the yellow wire will push you open this bloob lever we’ll slide it and pull it apart mashing t-connector put into place our other half our wire harness will plug into tow ready harness let’s work with our other t-connector the green wire we’ll go ahead and route that over to the passenger side and repeat the same process grab with some needle nose actually makes the job a lot easier let’s go ahead and work for whitewater ring term they’ll be ground now if you can it’s a good idea to go ahead and attach the tube we’re two pieces of metal overlap gives up more material for the self-tapping screw to dig into now I’m using a quarter inch nut driver for our self-tapping screw so I like to go ahead and run to drill it out first and then attach the wire alright next up will be your yellow buck connector and we’ll connect it to our black wire strip acts on the wire put into our buck connector goes and crimp it down now black wire needs to run to the firm of vehicles that means we have to get out from the trunk pan to do that we’ll use a grommet that’s just behind the wheel well on the driver side peel it up pretty easily and we’ll go ahead and put a slit in it so we can run our wire through we’re going to run it all the way up almost to the end by the buck connector then we’ll take our wire can run into that hole now this comes out right behind the muffler so it’s going to be hidden from view by the heat shield let the push a good amount through so we can see it from underneath here’s where a wire comes out right behind the fender well here so we’ll just go ahead and pull out rest of our slack all right and then we’ll go
back inside a trunk and reseal our grommets may help to pull back a little bit of the wire you have some slack then we’ll go ahead and install the module onto this great connection right here we’ll go ahead and clean off some sheet metal pry this vicinity right here then we’ll use adhesive that’s on back detach it everyone’s gonna run our wire differently but the things you want to look out for is when make sure you stay away from anything moving like suspension components or anything hot like the exhaust of course when you get to the front of vehicle make sure you stay away from the steering components as well now I’ll go ahead and show you how it routed our wire we snuck we kept it behind the heat shield as much as possible and then we ran it over top of the rear subframe for suspension kept it over a top this is where you’re definitely want some extra long zip ties to go around that came out by this exhaust hanger right here if you inches away from the exhaust so we’re good and then went over with zip tie this wire harness brake line here went to the inside of this wire harness and we stayed behind the heat shield and then there’s a little hole right here we use to zip tie to help hold it in place then we took down our panel which is very easy to do we see a ten millimeter socket and we go ahead and pull it down and out of the way or we just follow the brake lines going up towards the front zip tie it in a few different places so now we come up by the engine compartment here by our front suspension we’ll go ahead and leave this alone for now and then we’ll go ahead and drop our pull wire to help pull this back up now the pull wire I’m using is going to be a piece of old airline tubing it’s also going to be any piece of wire they can hold its shape as you guide it down now I’m starting the gap between the battery and then take here and work my way down by the firewall where I can see the ground alright I’ll take a black wire attached to our pull wire and we’re going to route it up towards the top go ahead and pull a wire up I think we’ll go ahead and route it up to here or it can zip tie it keep it secure let’s go ahead and add a fuse holder to the end of the wire we’ll go ahead and cut it in half one and we’ll get a buck connector and the other end we’ll get the ring terminal go ahead and add to our black wire and we’ll go ahead and tape up our connection since they’re somewhat outside okay let’s go ahead and add
this to the positive side of a battery let’s go ahead up up the cover move it out of the way we’ll go ahead and loosen up the nut with a ten millimeter socket okay now a lot of times you can’t remove a nut because the threads are made that way so you get the ring terminal on there we’ve got to go ahead and actually make a notch in it just enough to get it in there then we go ahead and tighten down the nut now we’ll go ahead and add the provided fuse to the fuse holder and we’re going to simply take that and tuck it right next to the battery X tomorrow we’ll go ahead and lay it next to it there’s a little gap right here then we go and put a cover back on at this point we’ll go ahead and put together our interior now it’s also a good idea maybe at this point to go ahead and test the wiring we’ll go ahead and show you our how ours works at the end okay now first before I put a threshold back into place we’ll go ahead and use the last you zip ties you want bundle our wires up right here and our threshold will cover all this up first off when it’s not being used it can stay at the spare tire we do need to use it we can simply pull it out we can also shut the hatch on it the door seal stick enough I won’t hurt anything when you close it all right now we’ll go ahead and test it we’ll take the ground from a tester and connect it to our white wire and then we’ll check the brown wire for a running light circuit okay it looks good now we’ll try a yellow wire for left turn and now a green wire for right turn and then we’ll check our brake signal it should be a cosmic signal on yellow and green wires okay looks like everything works now finish it for t1 vehicle wiring harness from tow ready part number one one eight five six two on our 2007 volkswagen passat
