It’s bad, fast and hyper-technological, but you can “disguise” it to a quiet compact car for everyday use. Here is the new Volkswagen Golf R 2015, most extreme and sporty version of the Wolfsburg car, which we tested between the curbs of Vallelunga circuit: only on track we can unleash maximum of the German car, transforming it into a real supercar. Yeah, because at first glance the Golf R isn’t very different from the standard version, and only examining it better you notice the difference: the front features large air intakes and a specific mask, two-tone diamond alloy wheels, Bi-Xenon headlights and four chrome tailpipes.Putting it in motion, we immediately feel the roar of the same engine of the Audi S3, a “two thousand” 4-cylinder 300 HP, which promises to combine exceptional performance with low fuel consumption and emissions. At Vallelunga track we fully test the Wolfsburg sporty compact and we see how agile and nimble is: accelerations are burning and we reach high speeds in seconds, while the four-wheel drive 4Motion and the XDS electronic differential allows handling and control comparable to much more famous and expensive cars. Should we want to find a flaw? Then let’s talk about prices: starting from 42,200 Euros, but if you want to drive a true supercar you have to do some sacrifices… .
