For thousands of years the unbroken arc of mountains that stretches from Trieste to Ligurian Sea has always been a difficult but not insurmountable. A thousand-year history of discoveries, achievements, fears and boldness. Our adventure is combined with the most advanced technology of the third millennium, aboard a Volkswagen Passat Alltrack we leave for an exciting journey of skiing and driving. We cross the Alps, starting from Trieste to arrive in Monte Carlo following an ideal high-altitude route, a journey in stages, addressing all seven Alpine countries. We start from Trieste and after 50 km of highway in Gorizia we enter Slovenia, on an icy and treacherous road that we overcome without problems, we return to Italy in Tarvisio, and then we go down in Austria. We head to the beautiful slopes of the Zoncolan, driving is challenging through a succession of icy bends and vertical panoramas. We admire the rare beauty havens. Open spaces and gentle slopes dotted with old houses. We passes Vigo di Cadore, Misurina, Cortina and then Falzarego. The landscapes are the most celebrated of the Dolomite world, even the most mundane. By Puster we reach Sterzing to stop in Val Ridanna, the night here knows magic. The mountains that surround it rise from the roofs of the old vertical farms for 2,000 meters of momentum, a small Himalayan world lost in the more true and genuine South Tyrol. Here we are in Innsbruck and the pleasant beauty of North Tyrol, driving is smooth and the streets are clean on the border with Bavaria. A quick visit to the fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein and again we restart.Passing through Reschenpass we return briefly in Italy. It snows and the roads are challenging but our Passat goes bold and safe. The ride comfort is remarkable, the indoor climate perfect and the road holding impeccable. We are in the Engadine, one of the most romantic regions of Switzerland. Alpine villages that are true pearls, isolated from the rest of the world, sunk in the snow, enchanted as in fairy tales. Now awaits the Bernese Oberland one of the most famous and noble alpine reality, we must “take on” our Passat on punctual Swiss trains which on winter overcome through long tunnels the summer steps now closed to traffic The mountains that rise on either side are the most famous of Switzerland as the Matterhorn. The descent in Aosta is a show, we lower until 650 meters to go up with gondolas, to discover the slopes of
Pila. There is snow, lots of snow, but the road holding is always impeccable, the scenery continues to give an “adventure” emotion. Our Passat Alltrack is literally submerged and the thermometer nearly -15 but the start is as always immediate. From the Matterhorn to Zermatt the white element closes an exceptional alpine panorama. We arrive in Courmayeur, we go up in the blue sky with Skyway in the heart of Mont Blanc. The newest cableway is revealed as a work of engineering worthy of his nickname: Eighth Wonder of the World! Mont Blanc tunnel, 11km of dark and here we are in France, Chamonix, Albertville and then the Frejus. The longest road tunnel in the Alps with its 13 km, take us back in Italy in Bardonecchia, yet few kilometers and we reach Claviere and the Passo del Monginevro. The mountains are still covered with snow but not for long, on white snow predominates the green barren of a winter that never arrived. Sinuous valleys, lumps of houses clinging on small oasis kissed by the setting sun. Our fantastic journey ends in Monte Carlo after traveling 2,500 kilometers and have reached a height 0 above sea level! .
