United States beat Germany, at least looking at the latest SUV made by Jeep and Volkswagen. Respectively Cherokee and Tiguan. The latter, while showing off a new design, pays quite a monotonous look. Ok the family feeling, but to homologate the entire range to the successful line of Golf, at the long run is likely to be counterproductive. Another story tells the Jeep Cherokee, that shows a very different pattern than in the past: it grows in length and pace. Great is also the load capacity, expandable to 1,300 liters lowering the rear seat backrests. Tiguan welcomes us in a comfortable passenger compartment and there is a lot of space for those sitting in the rear seats. Too bad that the dashboard buttons are too small, in fact unreadable and made with poor quality plastics. Discrete are the finishes, although improvable, in particular those of the doors. About driving, is obviously the Jeep to do the lion’s share in Off-Road terms. Among the features indispensable, we have the Select Terrain, that considers as many as 12 parameters to adapt the car’s behavior in function of the ground conditions.Very good are the 2.2 diesel engine 200 HP performance. Tiguan offers its best, instead, in driving on the road. In this case, the 2.0 150 HP with DSG is progressive with average consumption honest which stood at around 15 Km/liter. In conclusion, it’s the Jeep Cherokee to win this comparison: it offers a much more original look and an off-road attitude far more compelling. .
