Hello everyone! We’re in Mallorca but, unfortunately, we’re not here on vacation, we’re here to test the new VW Golf In front of us there’s the new Variant. What has been changed? At the front there are new air intakes and the new full LED lights which take he place of xenon, while for the cheaper version, there still are halogens there are new rims and, at the rear, there are standard full LED stop lights In front of us there’s a new 1,500cc 4-cylinder turbo engine which has an output of 150Hp and a cylinder on demand technology There’s something I don’t like about the restyling, there are fake exhausts, even though it has gained the Active Info display, which is a fully digital cockpit we’re on the 1.5L petrol engine version, it works very well, it’s very quiet, the output is linear and it goes up to 5000-6000Rpm and the 150Hp are more than enough and 250 nm at 1,500Rpm you’re right, it seems like an hybrid car. It’s very quiet, it has a great pickup in every condition I love technology and I love the new infotainment. What do you think about it? I mostly care about the basic stuff, shift and steering wheel. But I like it. it’s still a bit slow, but it’s perfect the dashboard is still the same, it has a premium feeling. This is a Golf, it’s always to to itslef the cockpit it beautiful, it’s a more basic version than Audi’s Virtual cockpit The infotainment has its sim card, connected services, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay the 6 gears manual shift works very well. It’s precise, the clutch has a goof feeling too. It’s a Golf and it gives you what you ask to it the steering is precise and there are many gloveboxes Let’s see how it goes. The sound is always low even at high RPM. Even though it’s a turbo engine, it goes up to 6,000 Rpm. The setup is good.Let’s talk about the prices For the Trendine version, which is the most basic, there is: ESC, 7 airbags, automatic braking, fatigue detection, Electronic differential, electric parking brake, Halogen lights and LED daylights, Start and Stop, Composition color Radio with Apple Car Play and Andoid Auto and electric and heated mirrors the starting price for the 1.0L TSI engine is of 20,150 euro, while for the 1.6 TDI is of 23,050 and it has now an output of 90Hp and 115Hp and 23,000 for the 1.4LTGI.The rice for this 1.5L is still unknown The business comes as standard with the 8 inch infotainment system, then there’s the Sport and Highline version. The
sport has 18inch rims, R-Line package…. The base version is already pretty good, but if you want some optional, the price rises a lot the fuel consumption is pretty good. During our test we’ve registered a fuel consumption of 6.7L/100Km which is pretty good since we were going fast. Let’s pullover to see the outside here we are. This is the biggest restyling of the new Golf. There are LED stop lights with dynamic blinkers. The rear bumper has a cleaner loo but, unfortunately, the exhaust is fake what I like is the rear camera which is hidden underneath the Logo which automatically opens when engaging the reverse the trunk has a load capacity of almost400L, the bottom can be lowered in order to gain some space and, underneath it, there’s the spare wheel with a subwoofer and there’s a 12v power outlet the side is the same as the old version, there are new rims, while at the front the radar is now hidden underneath the logo, it looks good. There are new chromed finishes, but I love the LED lights. Let’s take a loo at the inside there’s keyless access. The seat can setup in many different ways, even te steering wheel can be moved and there’s a massage setting for the seat Let’s talk about the infotainment which is really interesting. It has an Home screen which can be personalized with different info or pictures. The map can be setup on different views If we look at the screen, there’s a hand pictured that means that there’s the hand gesture activated, we can skip through the menus, radio stations by moving our hand in front of the screen, it’s very comfortable another important thing is: Android Auto It reads the messages, there’s Apple CarPlay and also MirrorLink. It works very well with different apps. There’s a SIM card that allows to have on.board wifi and connected services the other news is the Active Info Display which is an LCD display. it has many info like phone, driving assistance and GPS. We can have the maps in the centre and personalize the info inside the instruments how are the rear seats? We’ve simulated that there’s a tall person in front me, and there’s still plenty of space since this car is 4.25m long but unfortunately there isn’t much space for the 5th passenger here in the back I have air vents on the central tunnel and underneath the front seat. The price for all these optionals? The Discover Pro has a price of almost 2,000 euro On this car there’s the new DSG 7 gears shift
which allows to drop the fuel consumption of 0.3L every 100Km. It has different driving modes and on ECO the car shifts to neutral when not accelerating Let’s engage the Sport mode. The shift is very fast but I have to brake now I’ve also tried an Audi A3 with the S-Tronic shift, which is very similar to this one but it’s faster We’re on the 230Hp GTI version, it’s v ery fun but it has the DSG shift.I would have rather had a manual shift that would let me be more free to shift It has a stiff setup, but it’s right. The steering wheel is big but it’s just right since then there’s the Golf R I love the sound, the exhaust pops a bit but I think it comes in form the stereo the setup is very good, the engine is fun, there’s a bit of turbo lag but it pushes hard up to 4,000 RPM that’s it for today. The GTI will probably also be available in a 245 Hp version, the Performance. See you soon! .
