Today on our 2013 volkswagen jetta we’re doing a test fit of the rhino rack mountain trail rooftop bike rack that part number is rbc035 now we already have our bike on the rack first thing we’re going to show you is how we secure that down so starting here in the back we have a ratcheting strap on our back tire that’s just going to secure that in place and a great feature about that is that it does move up and down the length of your bike rack so you don’t have to worry about having a specific style bike for this carrier now up at the front we have a locking skewer so it’s going to protect your bike it’s also going to be for your fork mounts as well we can turn the handle one way or the other that’s going to loosen or tighten that skewer around your Forks and when it’s loose enough you can just pull your bike straight off and set it off to the side and with our bike out of the way I always like to reconnect my straps so I don’t lose or damage any of them and I will take a look at how our back is connected down so we have a metal bracket here with a rubber coating on the top of it so that’s going to protect your crossbars it’s not going to scratch them up for damage them at all we also have two thumb screws one on either side and those can be loosened and tightened to secure your bracket around your crossbars and a great feature about those is that they do fit around different style crossbars like our vortex Aero ones here even your factory square or elliptical cross bars as well in the front we have a locking cover and when that’s going to do is secure the front part of your rack to your vehicle so we’ve got the two metal straps with the rubber coating on them and then we have the bolt here or yes the bolt here in the center which is going to secure those straps around your crossbar so all you’ll need is an allen key and Allen tool and that will loosen and tight those straps and readjust them around any different style crossbar you can close that up I always suggest lacking that because that’s going to secure your bike rack in your bike to your vehicle and prevent theft or tampering so that’s going to be our completed look at the rhino rack mountain trail rooftop bike rack part number rbc035 on our 2013 volkswagen jetta let’s see how it does on the test course here on our test course we’ll start by going through the slalom this is going to show us the side to side action which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers
once we get to the alternating speed bumps we’ll see the twisting action this will simulate hitting a curb or pothole or driving over uneven pavement once we get to the full speed bumps we’ll see the up and down action this will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot garage or driveway you
