Hi there, it’s Daniel from Sussex Campervans here. Welcome. I’m excited today to be able to show you our latest new model, this is the Manhattan Mark II. It’s built on the superb Renault Traffic Vauxhall Vivaro Van and I think this has really changed what a van means. All campervans are built on a van chassis and some of the older ones they really do drive like vans. This I would say surpasses most people’s cars, I know the driving pleasure I get from this is probably just as much as my car or even a bit more and it’s got every modern refinement. These vehicles are superbly laid out. Gear stick on the dash board, there’s nothing in the way there. This is a high spec model so this has got air conditioning, bluetooth dab on the radio, stork controls. It’s really well specified, you’ll love driving it.Of course whether you go for two single seats in the front like this vehicle or a double and a single to give you three point belted seats across the front. It’s really important that when you’re stopped you can turn them round so everyone is facing together for eating and relaxing and that’s really easy to do. You turn this lever here, and then the whole seat spins round on its axis and there it is. It’s facing the rear. The Manhattan is a classic side kitchen layout campervan with the all important rock and roll bed at the rear. It’s got an elevating roof which pops up giving you a double bed in the roof as well and if you have the three seat option in the front you can seat five on belted seats and you can sleep five.We can do the roof bed two ways, we can do it as a complete panel that’s hydraulically lifted and articulated that just folds back right against the roof shell or this is my preferred way, sometimes a simple fix is the best. Three upholster panels that stay down like this for night in the day time they just fold up like this. This way it means if you’re going on a trip and it’s just the two of you, you can leave those at home. You don’t even need to take them with you. So, here in the back. I’m sitting on the latest revision of our popular rock and roll bed. This is the easiest one to use that anybody’s got. A single lever flips it forward and you’re ready for the night. There’s no messing about, and do you know it’s really comfortable as a seat, we can trim this in anything you fancy in our own in house upholstery facility. And it’s really comfy as a bed, it’s really supportive and comfortable. And
we can offer different grades of upholstery and foam to suit you.So, if you like a really hard bed, or a really soft bed, if you’ve got back issues and things talk to us, we’ll even let you try out some different grades in our place before you choose and we make it for you. Good size table here, ideal for dinner. Smev sink and hobb unit that just pops up. Two burner hob with electric ignition, nice big sink and of course, this arrangement means if your pasta bubbles over it just runs down into the sink and doesn’t make an awful mess.Really quick and easy to clean up. When you’re finished cooking of course, it all folds away. There’s a sliding window here so you can get plenty of ventilation when you’re cooking and of course the big gauze panels in the roof help with that as well. Here’s the fridge, it’s a compressor based fridge. No gas required, in our tests in the workshop it’s ran for over 3 days on the leisure battery opening it every hour or so without needing any charging. That’ll give you proper chilled choc ices and ice cubes and ice cold wines, beers and soft drinks. It’s ideal, 50 litres as well. It’s a good size. The water lives in this cupboard here, it’s really easy to pop this gerry can out, fill it up anywhere and you don’t need any special hoses or adapters just find some drinking water, fill it up, slide it back in and you’re ready to go.Very easy. A nice pan and crockery cupboard under here as well, lots of room for all your food stuffs and tins and packets in there. Let me show you how easy it is to put the Manhattan Mark II into night mode. Simply side this lever across on the bed and pull the bed towards you. It drops over like that and there we are, we’re ready for the night. It really is as easy as that. Now, I should point out that while the bed’s down you can still crack the fridge open and get the milk out which is very important. So, cups of tea and things like that can still be made. Come the morning, it’s really easy to get it back into day mode, jump out of bed refreshed from a good night’s sleep. Push the bed away from you like that, one click and we’re ready for the off. Let me show you in the back, this is the head end of the bed of course. But it also doubles as a handy picnic perch or a place to put your wellies on. And of course during the day your duvet and so forth can roll up and just sit here out of the way. There’s a massive boot area underneath
here, you can get lots of things in there. It’s all unobstructed and we can put a central panel in so nothing slides forward. Here’s the wardrobe, tan the door to the side which of course you can reach in the vehicle. Also, an opening door from the rear too and there’s a handy little panel under here you can pop jumpers and things down in through this hole and store a lot more stuff underneath there as well. This at the bottom here is where the gas lives. A propane cylinder will fit in there, 3.9 kilograms with a tool free change. So, no spanners required. This is all quite safe, it’s a sealed approved locker with a drop fence should there be a leak that gas is going to pour out on the under side of the vehicle and be safe from your point of view.We fit fully blacking out curtains that actually fit right across on two rails not just one and they pop right onto the sides. So, with that curtain closed there’s pretty much no daylight can get in. It’s a great way of making sure you sleep soundly. And I should also say that we trim all of the interior metal work. On a lot of conversions you’ll notice you’re still seeing exposed metal in these parts. And that’s fine on a level but you know, when you’re sleeping and your head’s here. I can tell you from experience, if there’s any metal here, you get drafts, you get cold spots, it’s just not comfortable. Wouldn’t you rather have everything trimmed, everything smooth so when the doors are closed you can’t even tell what colour the van is. Anyway, it’s been a delight to show the Manhattan Mark II. I’d love to show you it in person, that would be even better. Come over a see us, I’d love to show you round the workshop, around the trimming shop, and around some of our campervans.Call 01403 336369 come and find us on the Graylands Estate, RH12 4QD at Horsham, we’d love to meet you.
