Volkswagen Eos 2.0 FSI 150 CV – Prueba (English subtitles)

In Volkswagen Eos

This is the first coupé-cabriolet by Volkswagen It is called Eos, but you can call it Golf cabrio too What I mean is that, usually when a carmaker creates a new denomination it’s because he has created a new model but the Eos is just a Golf without the roof Right, the exterior design is different But its platform and interior design is exactly the same Anyhow, taking the Golf as the starting point is a very good choice Yes, because like the Golf the Eos is a very easy and safe car to drive It’s also very comfortable, it’s well finished and most of all it’s very, very beautiful Then, we have the engine It’s a normally aspirated 2.0 litres engine with direct injection, that produces 150 HP It may seem to be a lot of HP, but because the car weights almost 1,5 ton the performance figures aren’t very spectacular However, the car performs quite well Let’s see an example We stop and insert the first gear And here we go! 0-100 km/h is done in 9,8 seconds The first 1.000 meters in 30 seconds and the top speed is 210 km/h It’s a good engine, not very powerful, but very willing Now let’s move to the more interesting part of the car: its roof VW calls this roof CSC and unlike any other Coupe-Cabrio in the market it’s not divided into 2, nor 3 pieces. It’s divide into 5 pieces Five! This is the reason why the back of the Eos doesn’t suffer the Jennifer Lopez syndrome of its adversaries Moreover, the Eos is the first cabriolet in the History with sunroof Very clever these Germans To summarize, we have a cabriolet with a good engine, comfortable, attractive and with a roof like no other It’s perfect! Well, it’s not. The Eos has two little problems The first one, it’s the space at the back perfect if you’re under 1,80 metres, but if you’re taller you will have a problem with your head See what I mean And then we have the boot. Perfect when the roof is up, but a bit useless when the roof is down However, these are common problems of all its opponents, and in everything else the Eos is much better than them Therefore, someone could ask: why I don’t see more Eos in the street? The answer is very easy: the price The standard equipment is very good, but for example this unit costs 31.000 €, which is 6.000 € more expensive than an equivalent Astra TwinTop.And that´s a lot of money It’s the price you have to pay to buy the best compact hard top convertible It’s the price of the Eos .
