Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio review

In Volkswagen Golf

This is a bit the Lolo Ferrari of the Golf convertibles. But more fun, of course. If you don’t know who Lolo Ferrari is, Google it. Lolo. L-O-L-O plus Ferrari. It’s a horror, because the image is not easily forgotten. We didn’t expect the Golf R convertible. The Golf GTI convertible took its time as well. This surpasses everything the other VW convertibles have to offer. The most power, more seats – four, which all VW convertibles have … … but whatever. Thought I should mention it anyway. The price tag is a shocker, but there’s also good news. It will stay rather exclusive. The question is how long it’ll be produced in this get-up. This is the Golf VI. The Golf VII is available already. Maybe there’ll be a new convertible. The Netherlands only get 5 units. Therefore it’s a special car. It’s actually fun. Of course we know the 2-liter engine. Not the same one as in the Golf GTI, but it’s a different engine type. It has reinforced connecting rod bearings. What are they called? You know what I mean. Pistons and such. Either way, a different block with 261 bhp (that’s good) … … and 320 Nm available over nearly the entire rev range. With DSG. I don’t know if it’s available with a manual transmission.I should’ve done my research, but I was busy driving. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be driving a convertible. The weather is always nice in the Netherlands, except when it rains. In the snow as well, with warmed seats and the heating turned up. Wear a sweater and it’s rather comfortable. This is a fun one, perfect for this area. Not too big, good handling, but not as exciting as the closed Golf R. That one has AWD, which makes the rear wheels cooperate and slide out. This one has FWD, which is understeered. Lifting doesn’t do much. It has become more docile. Did I mention the price? I don’t think so. Well, it’s 56,290 euros. That’s quite a lot, for which you can buy a lot of other nice things. But okay, I’m going to look at it differently. Now that we’re talking about numbers: 62 mph in 6.4 seconds. The roof is opened 2.6 seconds later. Well, that’s not entirely true, because it opens between 19-25 mph. It needs 11 seconds to close, though. It’s really nice to drive at your own leisure, open or close the roof — You won’t have to halt completely at the traffic lights; it’ll just open. Secretly I’m a fan of this car. Not just the Golf R convertible, but the Golf convertible has something. It’s a
thing from my youth. A Golf was a boring car. The convertible adds some flavor, more fun. I think it looks okay. You may disagree, but it’s a great second car. Nice convertible, touring — What else do you want? Subtitles – Maru .
