What’s up guys, I’m Brent from PrecisionLED.com and here we have a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta we’re gonna be performing an LED interior light install on. Now the 2015 is part of the sixth generation so this installation is compatible with all years 2011 through 2017. So today we’re gonna be installing LEDs on the front map, the rear dome, the trunk, and the reverse lights. Today we’re gonna be installing a PrecisionLED 5730 style premium LED kit which come with these three interior trim tools you’ll see us using throughout the video. We have our fork-shaped wedge tool, our serrated knife tool, and our pointed wedge tool. So let’s get started. So we’re gonna start by installing on the front map light. Now as you can see I’ve already gone ahead and done the install on one side, so we’re just gonna show you how to install on the opposite side. We’re gonna be using our fork-shaped wedge tool in order to gain access to the halogen bulb here. So you just wanna take the fork portion of the tool and you just wanna come in perpendicular on one side here. You’re just gonna wanna pry outward until the clips come loose. And once you have separation, you could just work your way down until the rest of the clips come loose. And in the process this top paneling may come loose but you can just clip it right into place. So now that we have access to the halogen bulb here, you can try to remove it just with your bare hand, but it is typically pretty difficult to remove. But not to worry, there’s a trick in order to remove the bulb easier. Is you just wanna take a small piece of tape and then you could just make sort of a U-shape and then you could just wrap the tape around the bulb, like so. And then just with the tail end of the tape here, you could just pull it and the bulb should come out. So here we have our premium 5730 style LED, so we’ll just pop that in.Now these LEDs they’re non polarity-specific, so you can pop them in any orientation and they should come right on. Now as you can see, everything’s working perfectly fine. So now we can just pop the lens back on. So we’re gonna first start by lining up these three back tabs. And once those are in place, you just wanna apply a little bit of pressure on the front tabs until they snap into place. Now we’ll be installing on the rear dome light. Again as you can see, we’ve already gone ahead and done the install on one side so we’ll just show you how to install on the
opposite side. Again we’re gonna be using the fork-shaped wedge tool in order to gain access to the halogen bulb. So we’re just gonna wanna come in with the tool perpendicular towards the rear on the tail end of the vehicle. And just wedge in between the lens and the casing. And once you do have some separation there, you could just pry outward Just be very gentle because you don’t wanna snap any clips. And once the lens is loose here, you could just take your bare hand and just pull it out. And now that we have access to the halogen bulb, you could just remove with your bare hand. Just be careful, it might be a bit hot. And you just wanna grab the bulb and push towards the center of the vehicle. And then it should come out fairly simply. And so here we have our 5730 style LED. Again these are non polarity-specific, so you can just install in any orientation. So we’re just gonna install on the inner portion of the vehicle first. And once that is in place, just apply a little bit of pressure towards the inner portion of the vehicle. Then you could just clip the second tab inward. And before reinstalling the casing, you’re just gonna wanna be sure that the LED boards are facing downwards. And now let’s just test the bulb.So everything looks good. So now we can reinstall the lens here. Now we’re just gonna be installing one side at a time. And once a single side is installed, you’re just gonna wanna pry down on the opposite side tabs so that you can just pop those tabs in place. There we go. And then just apply a little bit of pressure until it snaps into place. Now we’re installing on the trunk light. So we’re gonna be using our pointed wedge tool in order to get to the halogen bulb now. Now there’s a small groove where you can pry the tool in in order to loosen up this lens here. So you just wanna take the tool and just push it right inside of that groove and the lens casing should come loose fairly easily. And as you can see, we now have access to the halogen bulb here. Now this bulb, it is pretty warm so we’re just gonna be using a rag here. So we’re just gonna be using a cloth here. And then we’re gonna use that just to pry the bulb outward. Now there are small grooves that are holding the bulb into place. So you can actually just remove the bulb one way. So we’re just gonna come in from the opposite direction here and then just pry downward until the bulb comes loose. And so here we have our
premium 5730 style LED, so we’ll just pop that in. Again, it only goes in one way but it’s pretty apparent which direction. Okay, and now before reinstalling the casing here, you’re just gonna wanna be sure that these LED boards here are facing downwards, so towards the face portion of this lens here. So we’ll just go ahead and maneuver that. And everything looks good, so now we could just pop the casing back into the fixture. Now we’ll be installing on the reverse lights. In order to get access to the reverse bulb, we’re actually gonna have to remove the entire housing. But not to worry, it’s pretty simple. We’re first gonna be start by removing this panel here that’s off to the side of the vehicle. And we’re just gonna take our serrated knife tool, the flat portion. And we’re just gonna pry in between that and the actual reverse housing and it should come loose fairly easily. And once that is removed, we’re then gonna wanna be removing this paneling right here. And you could just actually remove it with your bare hand, it’ll come off fairly easily as well. And next we’re gonna be removing these two bolts here. But before doing so, we’re first gonna wanna remove this power connector here. And you could do so just by prying down on these two outside tabs and then just pulling away. And so now we’ll just remove these bolts. And we’re gonna do so just with a flathead screwdriver. And so next we’re going to be gripping the outside of the housing with one hand and then with your free hand, you’re just gonna wanna tap on these pegs here where you remove the bolts from and the housing should come out fairly easily. So now that we have the reverse housing removed, we can disassemble and then swap out the halogen bulb with an LED. Now that we have the reverse housing removed, we’re gonna want to remove this back paneling in order to get to the reverse bulb, which is this one right up here. And you can do so fairly easily, you just wanna pry these three tabs outward. These three tabs are actually holding this white casing into place. And then once you pry the tabs outward, just wanna at the same time, simultaneously pull the white casing outward as well. And now we have access to the halogen bulbs. So the reverse bulb that we’ll be swapping out is this one right here. It’s the largest bulb. So we’ll just remove that with our bare hands. And so here we have the premium 5730 style LED. Again these are non
polarity-specific, so I’m just gonna pop it in any orientation. And once that is installed, we can just reinstall this back plate here. Just line up the tabs accordingly. And once everything is lined up, you can just apply a little bit of pressure on this back paneling until everything snaps into place. So now that we have the LED installed, we’re just gonna wanna re-line up these two pegs into the appropriate holes. Now, before bolting this down we’re just gonna wanna reconnect this power connector here. And once that is connected let’s just test the lights to make sure everything’s working properly. And that’s the end of the installation.
