Volkswagen Jetta (mk5) aankoopadvies

In Volkswagen Jetta

The Volkswagen Jetta was introduced in the Netherlands in 2005. It had different names in other markets: Bora, Vento, and a difficult name in Asia. Anyway, it’s called Jetta in the Netherlands. The Jetta was based on the Golf 5. It has many similarities in appearance and technology. However, one aspect is very different: it has a huge trunk for its class. You can store a lot in there. When the car was introduced in the Netherlands it had to compete with cars like the Toyota Corolla. It’s not a good idea to market small sedans in the Netherlands. Hatchbacks and wagons such as the Golf and Golf wagon or Bora wagon were more popular. This car wasn’t bought much. It did have a wide range of engines. The gasoline engines range from 104 to 197 hp. Yes, that’s the engine from the Golf 5 GTI. Diesel engines range from 89 to 168 hp. ENGINES gasoline, diesel You’ll find about 90 Jettas on AutoTrack, of which 75 have a gasoline engine. The other 15 have a diesel engine. This car was popular for businesses and was mainly sold to this group. That’s why you can find high-mileage cars. If you want an automatic transmission, they’re as rare as diesel engines. About 15 are for sale. The rest has a manual transmission. The prices start at 3,000 euros for a well-used car and go up to 10,000 euros. PRICES minimum, maximum Reasons to buy a Volkswagen Jetta. First, the extra space in the trunk. Second, it’s a comfortable car. If you’re looking for that, the Jetta is a good choice. In the end it’s a Volkswagen, so parts are widely available. That’s no problem. Even when the car gets older you’ll be able to find parts. Of course there are things to watch out for when looking for the right Jetta.First, it’s good to know that the 1.9 diesel engines have a better reputation than the 2.0 diesel engines. The oil pump of the 2.0 diesel engine can break, which is disastrous for a car. A certain axle drives the pump. When it wears, the belt driving all this loses its grip. Everything will go wrong, destroying your engine. When buying a 2.0 TDI, it’s wise to look for a car with a refurbished pump or a new one. If the car has been driven around without replacement parts, have the pump refurbished. That’s much cheaper than buying a new pump. That can get expensive. Refurbishing a pump won’t cost that much. There’s another problem with the diesel engines. The head gasket can start leaking internally, inside the engine. If you don’t see it
leak out, coolant mixes with the oil. The oil level rises when this happens. That’s the only way to discover the problem. Until your engine is destroyed. When the oil level rises, go to the garage immediately to have the problem fixed. There’s a final thing with the diesel engines I want to point out. The EGR valve can get stuck when it’s dirty. Especially high-mileage cars can have this problem. This is a cheap fix, but now you know what causes the check engine light. When shopping for an automatic transmission, know that the DSG can show errors and break. This mainly happens with the 7-speed DSG. It’s available with the 1.6 TDI, among others. That transmission can break. You know the story. There have been recalls in other parts of the world, not in Europe. It mainly goes wrong in warm and moist climates, but it’s something to keep an eye on. The 2.0 can have leaking fuel lines, so smell the car for gasoline fumes. The 1.4 TSIs are known to break; cylinder walls and cylinder heads.A timing chain is destroyed from time to time. These are known problems with the 1.4 TSI. The cause of the problem is difficult to pinpoint; what car has it and which one doesn’t. It got better with each new model year, but it remains a problem with these cars. Will you take the gamble or not? The last thing to watch out for with the powertrain: check if the engine cooling fan works. Have the engine warm up, stop, and listen for the fan blowing. If it doesn’t, you need to fix the problem. It’s not a huge problem, but the thing can break. It’s wise to check for strange sounds from the steering system. The steering box breaks sometimes, making strange squeaking sounds. ABS is a thing. The Jetta has ABS errors more than average. The same happens in the Golf 5. Simply check it. The interior, or rather the divide between the outside and inside: the door seals. Check them for leakages. It’s hard to check the seals, but you can see if the interior is dry.Feel if the floor mats and upholstery are dry. It’s a relatively cheap fix to make it all watertight again. Another interior / electronics thing: the air conditioning pump can break. It’ll make strange, hissing sounds when it needs topping up or replacing. The final thing to watch out for is the ventilation air intake. More cars have this problem, as does this Jetta. If the drains get clogged, water can collect between the windshield and the hood. The water runs
over and falls on the ECU. The ECU can get water damage and be really damaged. You’re too late when this happens. On a test drive, check if the drains are open. After you bought the car, make sure to keep them open.Water can also get inside through the interior filter. Sometimes the box isn’t closed properly after replacing the filter. Water can get in and finds its way to the ECU through the interior filter, causing errors. Pay attention to check engine lights and make sure the interior filter box is sealed properly. The Volkswagen Jetta of this video was borrowed at Autohuis Landeweerd in Apeldoorn. This has probably been a business car. A manual transmission, 1.6 engine, air conditioning, and a large multimedia thing. It’s a nice car in sober black, but most have this color. If you want a happy color, you may have to look for a different car. THIS CAR If you’re looking for a second-hand car and want our help, or if your company has a nice car for sale of which we may shoot a video, please send an e-mail to tips@autoblog.nl Subtitles – Maru’s Text Support
