This is the new VW Polo GTI. Well, it’s facelited. But it is rather different. It even has a 1.8 instead of the 1.4! Furthermore: VW actually pushes this model now, unlike before. It was received indifferently, the ride was meh and it just had a DSG. The less powerful, manual Blue GT was more fun. So: a retry. We’re at the Valencia race track. Let’s give it a try! Let me share some impressions. More punch than before now. But we can only test the DSG on track now, sadly. Less understeer. The ESP can be dialed back a bit more, too. Lifting into a corner, the nose wobbles but it’s no Clio RS or Fiesta ST. The old Polo GTI was not for the track, this one does alright. The XDS differential has been improved to reduce understeer on exits. It’s nice and stable without feeling uncomfortable. It’s still an everyday-car. The ride isn’t that bad.The balance is still more towards safe understeer. To get the rear out, you have to go really wild. That was fun. It disappointed at first, then I started to like it. It’s still a GTI which you can use on any day, but it’s a bit sharper. But, a Clio RS or Fiesta ST are still much more exciting. But if you can it, PLEASE select the manual gearbox. + Nice engine; Available with manual ‘box – Balanced to safety; Brake lack force .
