alright guys welcome back to coats and coffee today we have a 2004 Volkswagen r32 I have to get towed in today because the the car didn’t start for the customer we went ahead and ran our Diagnostics through it and we found out that the fuel pump is what it’s gone on it it’s no longer doing its job functioning so we’re going to go ahead today and we’ll show you how to do it this is a two-door hatchback a beautiful beautiful car blitz mint paint jobs great it’s a real nice one I like this one go ahead and get it started for you and I hope you guys enjoy the show this one specifically is a Oh 500 for alright let’s get this video started for you guys thank you this goes like that Mikey Wow so friendly so far but we’re not sure if this is where the the fuel pump was residing or is it be gonna go underneath I’m not sure got all these VW’s you know but not familiar with these too much you don’t get a share of them but I see a little bit of there’s supposed to be some kind of indentation Mikey that we got a roof so we can do our thing right yep uh-huh there it is so like I just go like that alright alright 32 besides the screws they tend to use some kind of a sealant between the black cover and stuff so you know very gently you see this still you see there’s the sealant around it right but don’t expect this color that come off sometimes you isn’t that something isn’t alright so there’s that one key so here’s the the electrical connections to it so for that what I like to do is Jesus right thank waters we get up close here and personal I’m just taking my time nope you hit this nice little clip it oh yeah just taking my time it will come off it’s supposed to come off right here but I don’t see a simpler one underneath and I was able to pull this that way okay so you’re supposed to be able to pull this with this one I don’t trust us at all it’s got a feeling it was gonna weak so I did it the the back door method you know all right so this is one now these guys are very clever pushing locking devices so we’re gonna find a way to get these out of there – okay these are like quick disconnects yeah there are no faster there’s nothing you can see nothing wrong just going clock so we got it going on like get it out okay so we got to figure that out next so I’m just getting a little comfortable here I’m trying to keep all our hardware somewhere else it’s a little bit of this they come in handy now obviously there’s two different colors so one probably just sends it the other one unborn gas comes back in right circulating through so and we got to keep an eye on this arrow to arrow is definitely pointing at the drivers guy okay right drivers others from the people let’s keep that in mind so um so now okay get another arrow here to this interesting that was to the driver no this is actually yeah a rear rear rear of the truck it says video yeah Jeannie was right so do you have some of those papal rags everyone in this clean couple of these think lucky and see it’s the mailman marina and any name yes hello my friend oh is that little bad Mike you just see what I did yeah I was able to just go underneath and I don’t know how I get lucky look getting all this dirt on it okay but I’m just oh yeah that’s what we’re going off the wrong it cranks doesn’t start i checked the fuel line on the part disconnected it there’s no fuel coming out I checked the electrical I checked the car’s computer everything’s okay but the car’s computer doesn’t know this is just so these are so yeah this is really muddy in here I’m trying to do the same thing on the other one I got lucky here Mikey with this one is kind of you got to pull the whole thing out yeah then I change the whole assembly it comes in a new fuel pump assembly comes in the sending unit fuel gauge BOM Union either filter external filter it comes in one piece so once this is done I think this car is ready to go here but but and I didn’t know I told them they were busy inside so park it outside so luckily we can get to it here instead of dropping a gas tank down it’s good all the fumes of all Jesus save and to end over to end over at mechanic save by the mailman mr.Raymond mr. Sandman so you try to go underneath Mikey I’m just fishing okay so you know I’ll make it easy there’s no tabs there’s nothing to press I’m looking at this guy yeah so far thank you look oh yeah it is but it isn’t but if you just push it like this do you see it as it moves and when it moves and you pull it out okay so you’re the same thing on the black guy right there and remember square on this side surround them on this side look at this see this place just wants to move with it okay so I didn’t know so I was trying to poke it back here try to get it off then and I was frustrating myself you just gotta know what that’s off now we know but by the way this this designs are changed every year you know they they come up with a clip here on clip there and all kinds of stuff so anyway now so there’s like a one big-ass screw here right and it’s plastic the plastic sometimes it’s really rusty sometime it isn’t you can use a piece of wood and a hammer or we could basically go with a hammer and it just nice screwdriver but I’m just gonna keep on lubricating this because we don’t want any surprises any surprises and sometimes you hit it and it’s just not moving so you just got to move the tool around but I still I rather be doing this then that Prius phone will be no Jesus Prius look so innocent you know you will cut into a little bit Solorio it’s pretty so I’m just gonna take my time here my key is this come out you’ll need to pay with these a little bit don’t let that get to you he just had to be flexible so you could just wiggle yourself out of it you just felt that he popped right yeah what because there’s a spring so we’re just gonna get this out of the way first our agenda is bursting force to get this bad boy and let’s put it here okay now from this moment on there shall be spillage of fuel and so this is where we’re gonna use a lot of paper rags of what are we gonna are we gonna try to limit the spillage but they shall be smell I’m just happy today’s not that 90 degree humidity I know horn-like yeah and and all the mechanics out there just just quit cigarettes stop smoking I still used to smoke a lot and it was it was interfering with my work where I couldn’t work any more than 15 minutes before I had to stop and get a cigarette break which was really making me inefficient so I was you know I was not and I was in a bad mood because you have to you know stop all the time and because the cigarettes calling you you know so stop smoking all right come on there are better things only in life all right so now this thing is it’s kind of day Mikey for now you see he’s the spring that came out of here right so I don’t know what they had of mine here I’m just trying to get a hold of it okay now we got this rubber here to my okay we’re gonna take this clicked on or snapped in to the bottom of the gas tank to there is that possibility okay so I don’t know what they had in mind here I think this will be a good time right now to stop and wait until wait until the new one comes in we can compare it yeah and see what’s up at the bottom sometimes you get it reach inside unlock it and then you take it off because he may be one of those because what this is free Mikey here this is a freebie I think this one is ours you don’t have to wait for the new one at all all right so I’m just gonna go right on top of it just kind of kneel down and we are gonna use a lot of rags my entire all right so let’s just go fishy-fishy okay just checking just checking yeah you know we’re gonna check the trap all right guys we have this guy right here – Mikey you can see that right now what this guy does what Jesus Christ Mikey this you see another pipe connected to it yeah what this means is this maybe like two halves of the one gas tank meaning so this guy is hooked up to another pick up unit elsewhere oh so this is like the reserve so this is the main but that’s picking up from the reserve exactly or or this is the main but there was another reserve one maybe I’m just sitting on top if this car what they say is our 32 4×4 if that’s the case take a lot of baggage when this rear differential they don’t have a full-size gas tank that they could put so they pee they put a half of it here and they put a help of somewhere else so this thing need to suck from somewhere else so here is that possibility so I don’t know so well regardless so what we’re gonna do is basically is this is this is a wiring harness that I can see that needs to be disconnected I just did that right and so in the main pump assembly we have the same connector similar connected like this and then the one that we disconnected with the black and blue ones before it’s kind of similar and it’s got a little push button area right here like you so I’m gonna just kind of push that and I’m gonna try to this guy I believe this case I believe this stays okay so I think we are we are this is our main pump assembly so we’re gonna leave this alone is this a good idea to drop it down is the matter of fact well maybe believe it or not we may not even be might not be able to put a bungee in because it’s such a narrow opening I think it’s gonna interfere are they gonna shove this thing back in there and we’re gonna okay mics out up here because it is still Jesus Christ Mike we have this guy is this okay okay I think we just got a little opening now now besides this expect to see another level that shows how much gas you got in this car too right so we got to do all that stuff too so I am just in the process of taking it off it’s kind of interfering with the mouth of the gas tank unusual disconnected at all maybe just got to pull a little harder so you come off but it is tight B I know probably the fuel line so I’m pretty sure on that I got no problems there Mikey all right thanks this one kind of reminds me of that Volvo that’s s 70 or something they got like twin house because yeah they also have to deal with that 4×4 deal I mean we should be able to pull this out of here now there’s no reason why this is uh basically it is you don’t want to come out its kind of banging let in a multiple of this weekís is this still connecting in the bottom of something else all right so ah just not budging right now okay it’s coming off but something’s holding in the bottom this is not this is nothing yet this is not this is not an easy I did something else well let’s just let it drain first okay one key there’s plenty of gas in here so I’m gonna take our time yeah I know I know what’s good whatever it was a some kind of a retaining device that was holding the fuel pump into the bottom of the gas tank and that retaining device was holding it we somehow unlocked it but I don’t think that was the way to take it off but you’re just letting it drain now look at this how much look how much gas right you’re gonna let this drain by itself do you want let it do its thing I think that’s not a bad idea huh actually this is is this sneaking right in yeah it’s leaking right right up to the gas tank where my keys I can hear it yep and that angle yes right back into the gas tank get back in you hold on the top it’s not that heavy Lincoln but it just have a little guessing just leave it on the ground straight down still shuffle it’s it’s a draining way too slow right now you see this thing right inside Winkie what’s that there’s a little holes with a little white thingy thingy that is just sitting there I think this was somehow connected into that pulp right in the bottom yeah maybe it’s not a holding device but this is the hole that goes there’s another thank you but the tank is not solid that you think it is so it’s kind of narrow on the bottom and it kind of like because it has got a wrapper on it’s over on four by four and differential and God knows what kind of mechanicals they’ve dealt with so so it’s like a two-piece gas tank that’s what this is so meanwhile the only thing we could do is we’re just gonna keep on absorbing all this gasoline okay but luckily we do not spend much inside a car that was pretty good but the fumes will be there but luckily I think this the gasoline is an excellent cleaner too by the way you know it’s in a mud looking to know Telugu alright so sign the dwarf side is kind because I need some pressure mr.Artery – oh Jesus okay no hey okay oh oh yes deep breath all right so make this until when I do this okay you know first I’m just gonna reach inside there somehow I’m just gonna get in there all right so let me open up that trunk so we can breathe I’m just bringing it down here need to know what this does okay Mikey when I know then I’ll tell you yes just it is not the pump or because we have four wires here and the major one is this one this blue and purple looking that’s the one that carries a lot of electricity I can see some big fat one if I follow that here this is the black one right here Mikey and that black one I’m just twisting it around and it goes into right around here Mikey follows it to the right and then I’m just trying to see I’m just opening a Christmas present here and yes that does go right in there Mike you look so there’s two wires that goes into this the pump this is the electric motor right you can see right here and you got a one plug right here and there’s another plug here whether this is negative whether that’s positive that remains to be seen but it is basically this should buzz yeah you should do something okay so alright this is where we stop okay think I’m kind of calling it right now I’m Santa saying it yes and I’m glad that kid called us I’m glad to say you know yes so now before we go ahead and replace the fuel pump we just want to recommend you to do one thing okay there’s a little box and once you pull it off this cover there’s two relays one is 100 Els 428 D are these are not fuel pump realize okay this is for secondary air pump relay and this is for fuel injection realizes he’s probably controls these injectors or something here but don’t get fooled by and and if if it is the fuel pump relay that you need to replace it is not cheap it’s like 60 or 70 bucks okay from from like an auto parts store or or dealership dealership 75 85 anything now the fuel pump relay is located well let’s keep that then I’m gonna find out I don’t believe it’s under this hood here somewhere right it’s a 7 pin relay it’s a 7 pin policy in a 7 pin serial unless you do know so I think we’re going under the dashboard should it’s probably on the driver’s side they have clever ways of lowering some levels down yeah find a suckers there ok that’s what I’m thinking what Johnny you’ve missed us already don’t you yeah you could even leave us for a couple of hours look at this guy he’s back again do you want to be famous on YouTube oh did you just wait Mike did you lock the car let’s make sure the cars networked up okay so put his registration back in there up the fuel pump relay it’s a 7 pin okay that is either located under the glovebox there or under the dashboard on this side and we went ahead and ordered it and when it gets here we’ll take it apart and take a look at that first and replace it and if it’s not that then we’ll go ahead and continue the fuel pump replacement all right so all’s we could do is wait okay moe it is now this is the actual feel pump really 409 this is the old one 12 volts 40 amps swaggin Audi dealership and it’s located underneath the driver’s side panel I’m gonna do my best to get you underneath there so you can see it’s trying to get the best shot that I can for you guys there’s your main fuel pump really so we change that one out okay and the car still doesn’t want to start tries to turn over no full start so if you remember 428 relay that was here that’s for the fuel injector we ordered that one as well see if we may need to do it as a combo exchange the one underneath the driver’s side the fuel pump relay and the one underneath the hood which is the fuel injector and we’ll let you know soon as we get to park with the results are huh realizing places injection which was I thought it was fish yeah sounds I don’t know if you can hear its guts is like broken its pieces on the side it’s just so that’s why we replaced the fuel injection really they’re still not starting so should we so you think it’s the pump does it feel sound like all right so we’re not gonna give up we’re going to check for voltage Oh Mitch am pitch make sure everything is working in the fuel pump that’s gonna be our next step three shots Martin this is my power this is my main feat and it does power Mikey yep so powers coming to the prompt I mean pump is not running I was gonna tell you so it’s definitely the pump you up man definitely gone leaning towards there no when you try to run it this energizes going in and the ground basically grounds it to pump this basically problems it right there so it’s this basically Mikey there’s power here yeah I’m gonna have to lean towards this guy’s basically just not doing it you know he must have been both it must have been fuel pump you know relay related we fix it relay now the pump is bad too so you know I don’t know right what was installed remember you need to pay attention to this guy pick up the temporary plug installed no way we’re gonna dump it in as we don’t put it like you know what this thing is very important she stays right here that’s the only place and as it sits if you remember this arrow was pointing to the cadet yep and these guys line up like this so this guy lines up to the driver side more or less you know all right so here we go there’s no be careful on this guy first holes is interfering as this one Mickey we’re just gonna play it on page two pay attention here okay I’m just corporate the culprit but we got a phone call telling us to check the relays has to be the relays it has to be the relays but always stick to your guns all right good happy car any questions leave a dealership but it’s probably double that the 428 amp the 428 fuel injector relay that was from a part store and was sixty-five dollars as opposed to I forget how much the dealership wanted but it was probably an astronomical price and then we had the fuel pump relay which is underneath the steering wheel here that was about eighty five eighty dollars 85 bucks so yes of course you know you want to save your money by doing the relays first but we were really sure and usually we like to keep to our guns and once we condemn the fuel filter we change it but this time this was raw we gave people
