Volkswagen Touareg Review

In Volkswagen Touareg

When you think of a big plush car you think of an Audi Q7, or something like a Land Rover, but now Volkswagen have thrown their hat into the ring with this, the third-generation Touareg. To start off with there’s a size – it’s a real beast of a machine. It’s a little bit longer and a little bit wider than the previous-shape Touareg, whilst managing to be lower to the ground and also lighter as well by about 100 kilos. And then we’ve got the front grille. It’s massive. It’s surrounded by all kinds of cool tech like the Adaptive Cruise Control sleekly hidden behind the badge; LED matrix headlights with optional IQ Light which senses the road ahead of you and adapts accordingly, dimming certain areas and preventing glare from road signs.I’m currently driving this 3.0 V6 diesel giving 286 PS: 0-62 MPH in 6.1 seconds and 600 Newton meters of torque! There’s also another lower-powered V6 diesel option which serves up 231 PS. So, inside – luxurious leather seats as standard. Various driving modes using air suspension which automatically changes the height of the car meaning you have a comfortable ride and complete control over all terrain. The main notable difference in the new Touareg is the tech – the new infotainment system is something very special. We call it the Innovision Cockpit. A 12.3″ screen and a 15.3″ glass display, the two screens seamlessly flow into one another giving the illusion of one giant screen. No buttons or knobs, just touch, gesture or voice control. This car could very easily be from the future. Everything you could possibly need is controlled through the Innovision Cockpit, and with this tile system and ambient lighting it really is easy to personalize. The tech continues in the realms of assist systems: Adaptive Cruise Control; Intersection Assist; Park Assist; Traffic Jam Assist – all the assists just keep on coming – Side Scan Lane Assist…To name a few. The spacious boot has loads of room and with the folding rear seats you’ll never be stuck for space. It can be lowered for easy loading and unloading by just the push of this button. The Touareg is also known for its towing capabilities with the new model being able to tow 3.5 tons, made all that bit easier by this foldable tow bar that’s just tucked away from underneath. In amongst all this luxury the Touareg is still an all-terrain SUV. The incredible 4MOTION technology powers each wheel giving you traction at all times, and having
all four wheels being able to turn independently means that this five-metre long SUV has a turning circle of only a metre larger than a Golf. So then, the all-important price. This one in particular is an R-Line Tech with a few of the toys on, so it comes in at around £70,000 but you can get yourself into a new Touareg for under £49,000 pounds which, compared to its competitors, is fantastic value for money. So I think you’ll agree this new upgraded behemoth has smashed into the 21st century and beyond its powerful engine and dominating road presence really does make for a strong SUV.The technology on the car helps to traverse any terrain that you can put in front of it, which means that one thing’s for sure: Volkswagen’s new Touareg is a plush powerhouse that really does deserve a closer look. .
